#CarnivorrGoesForGold: Week Ten
The #CarnivorrGoesForGold challenge continues with a recap of my visits to Bestia, Garlic & Chives, Guelaguetza, Coni'Seafood, P.Y.T., Shunji, and Brodard Chateau. Stay tuned as I eat at all of Jonathan Gold's Best 101 LA restaurants in 101 days!
60. Bestia (#17 on the #JGOLD101)
Still one of the hardest tables to reserve in LA, Bestia is the DTLA Arts District hotspot from husband & wife team Chef Ori & Genevieve. Angelenos love their pizza, but don't skip out on their small plates.
What I ate: lamb belly a la plancha, roasted bone marrow with spinach gnocchetti, burrata pizza with olives and fermented chiles, saffron agnolotti with braised oxtail, brown butter, rosemary, pistachios, currents.

61. Garlic & Chives (#93 on the #JGOLD101)
I went with my friend Layla to Guelaguetza, a super fun Oaxacan restaurant in Koreatown. It's a great place to watch a sports game, but it's an even better place to taste Oaxacan specialties like mole!
What I ate: "Fiesta of Mole" - a sampler of mole from light to dark, chorizo queso fundido, tlayuda- like a pizza, huge tortillas covered with black beans, melted lard, all kinds of meat (chorizo, pork, chicken).

63. Coni'Seafood (#81 on the #JGOLD101)
Headed to Inglewood with some food blogger friends to try some of the best fish in town at Coni'Seafood.
What I ate: shrimp ceviche with onions, tomato, cucumber and mango; smoked marlin tacos, shrimp with butter and black pepper (fave!), grilled snook with house sauce, caramelized onions, tortillas.

64. P.Y.T. (#27 on the #JGOLD101)
My friend Jessie and I headed to P.Y.T. in DTLA for a celebration of local vegetables with Chef Josef Centeno.
What I ate: peanuts; potato chapati bread with turmeric butter, salsa verde, cheese dip; vegetable crudite + tomatillo creme fraiche; blistered green beans + ranch, black sesame, lemon; avocado toast, arugula, pepitas, brie; green piri piri rice with bok choy, herbs, egg.

65. Shunji (#24 on the #JGOLD101)
The best Vietnamese food I’ve had is in a French chateau, Brodard Chateau, in Garden Grove.
What I ate: duck salad, Hanoi noodles + braised pork belly and pork patties, coconut moon cakes with shrimp, shrimp and pork spring rolls (to die for!)
