toes in the sand, conch in my hand...

Cue the "Lord of the Flies" references... One of my favorite restaurants in Turks & Caicos was da Conch Shack! The tables sit right on the sand, with a roof of palm tree leaves overhead and that gorgeous turquoise ocean setting the perfect atmosphere. Da Conch Shack is an adorable little cottage on the water, painted in bright and happy pastel colors. They have live reggae music and a rum bar, and yes, they will pick you a fresh coconut and pour rum in it! They also have THOUSANDS of fresh conch shells from the beach directly in front of you. They take the meat out (similar to oyster meat!) and toss the shells back into sea! Truly as fresh as it gets. You can also take a shell home as a souvenir! I tried the Iced Coffee with fresh coconut syrup and OMG! I wanted to bottle that syrup up and pour it on every pancake I eat for the rest of my life. We shared some mac & cheese and fries which were great, but my favorite was the Blackened Fish tacos. Absolutely the freshest, most delicious tacos I've ever enjoyed. Such a fun and beautiful beach restaurant - a must in Grace Bay!
