Twisted Tea Tailgate
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog... the sun is shining, spring is here, and it’s officially tailgating season! I kicked things off chowing down on bacon-wrapped hot dogs and sipping on the No. 1 hard iced tea, Twisted Tea, at the NASCAR races with my friends. Twisted Tea drove their RV to the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for the most epic tailgate ever!
My friends and I danced to country music, played fun games like cornhole and beer pong, and relaxed on the roof of the RV with ice cold Twisted Teas in hand.
During my time at the tailgate, Twisted Tea showed me some tips on how to be a Tailgating Pro, and now I want to share them with you! Here are my twisted tips on how to throw the perfect tailgate:
Tailgate Pro Tip #1 – Keep the Twisted Tea Cold
Grab a cooler or a cute ice bucket to keep your Twisted Tea on the rocks. No one wants a warm drink!
Tailgate Pro Tip #2 – Let the Games Begin
What’s a tailgate without a little friendly competition? We spent most of our time at the tailgate playing cornhole and beer pong, with a twist! The Twisted Tea Tailgate RV made these games larger than life by using a giant, inflatable cornhole board and a volleyball with trash cans for “beer pong.” These one-handed games were perfect since we always had a Twisted Tea in another hand!
Tailgate Pro Tip #3 – Fire Up the Grill
No tailgate party is complete without food! At the tailgate, they were firing up bacon-wrapped hot dogs, slathered in a sweet Twisted Tea glaze, and dipped in potato chips – yum! They even had host of Man vs. Food, Casey Webb, behind the grill at the tailgate sharing his best tailgate and grilling pro tips.
Seeing all the live action grilling, I was inspired to make my own hot dogs for a tailgating party at home - pigs in a blanket! Pigs in a blanket are my go-to dish when entertaining – they’re so easy to make, an instant crowd pleaser, and super fun to pop in your mouth.
My recipe is simple:
Step 1: Open a can of crescent roll dough and cut the triangles into thirds.
Step 2: Take miniature hot dogs and brush with Twisted Tea.
Step 3: Wrap each dog in a piece of dough.
Step 3: Put in the oven (375 degrees) for about 15 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown.
Step 4: Pop in your mouth and wash down with an ice cold Twisted Tea.
Tailgate Pro Tip #4 – Be a Tailgate Hero
I’ve given you my tips, but now Twisted Tea wants to see how YOU tailgate! They’re having a social media photo contest where they’re asking you to share how you tailgate like a pro. At the end of the summer, a winner will be chosen, and you’ll have the opportunity to host your own Twisted Tailgate with the Twisted Tea Tailgate RV. Want to win?! Take a photo of yourself enjoying a Twisted Tea, and post it to Instagram or Twitter, using the hashtag #TwistedTailgate and tag @TwistedTea. Good luck!
